Abby Wendy is of Ngai Tahu descent, born in Wellington New Zealand in 1979. She is part of a large bicultural family of 7 sisters and one brother. There were many challenges in childhood and in life but the strength and love of this family, led by an inspiring mother, sustain and nurture her. Abby has one talented son and growing numbers of beloved neices and nephews.
Abby attended an all girls college in Wellington and went on to study electrical engineering. Her son Jalen was born in 2001 and Abby celebrated her motherhood with a return to art and creativity at The Learning Connexion in Island Bay. After several years of art school Abby went on to complete a double degree at Victoria University studying Art History, Business and International Relations.
Abby now lives in Kapiti. She is actively involved in the community and offers courses in art and art history. Her work is regularly on display at Kapiti Gallery and at various exhibitions.
